Janet Perkin garners artistic inspiration from her many travels abroad. Having lived in Europe, Africa and North America, Perkin uses her broad range of cultural experiences to visually represent different cities and people from around the world. In this mixed media work with tropical palm trees and Byzantine-style buildings, Perkin's vision is of an unspecified city in the Middle East but inspired by the many timeless conflicts there. When she painted the piece is was around the Holidays and Janet was moved with compassion in particular for the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
