Acrylic, Oil Pigment, Stick, & Paint Markers on Canvas
The chalkboard-esque drawings included in this work were all taken from Post It Notes the artist doodled on during downtime at Junio's office job. Although the brushstrokes look erratic and intense at first glance, upon closer inspection, one can see that each layer was carefully mapped out and individually applied by the artist. Sometimes these layers were planned out a few seconds before and in other cases, these layers were applied weeks prior.
"My name is Jaymes Junio. I am based out of Seattle, WA. I started painting after a traumatic brain injury in April of 2020. Instead of wallowing in my sorrows, I decided to throw some paint around, and I just never stopped. It has been a great way to get my mind off all of the madness of this year and also help with my recovery and rehab. I'm not a fine art school graduate and don't claim to be anything I'm not. I do however promise that my work is 100% raw emotion and I can't make the same thing twice."
