This piece draws inspiration from the soothing color of the turquoise waters and the warmth of the Caribbean. The beauty of the blue tones combined with the textured bottom gives a sense of depth and fluidity as the deep and shallow waters of the ocean.
Artist Laura Yelin was born in San Juan, a city overlooking the snowed peaks of the Andean mountains in Argentina. She later moved to Israel after high school where she studied biology, following her passion for animals and nature. It was only during her post-doctoral studies in La Jolla, California when she began painting and found the freedom she was looking for her whole life.
Her art reflects her multicultural background, places she has visited, views, smells and colors which have all become part of her soul, her being. She paints intuitively but meticulously, layering layers of textures, colors and marks while following her feelings and connection to herself, to the colors and the canvas. As a scientist, she loves experimenting with different color combinations, new techniques and new ways to apply the color onto the canvas.
