As reflected in the title, the work speaks to the social norms of gossip and rumors. Artist Bry Cruz wanted to evoke emotions from viewers by making the faces in the piece twist and turn into themselves to reveal their snaky quality. Moreover, he chose to stick to red being the dominant color to depict the painful and infuriating effects of spreading rumors. The work mainly shows half faces to represent the idea that we are not receiving both sides of the story, yet we go ahead and spread the information.
