Like many of Darrel McPherson's paintings, this oil on canvas was rendered on the spot and outdoors in a technique known as en plein air. More specifically, this work was painted at Lake Hodges in Southern California and presents a romanticized view of the lake and its lush surroundings. The title of the painting is an homage to Australian-born artist Daryl Millard who painted many scenes of Lake Hodges before relocating to Hawaii.
