To create this work, artist Sona Mirzaei used silhouettes of herself and a friend to capture the contours of their bodily poses. Inspired by the vibrant culture of the 1980s, she then chose to employ a bold and energetic color field technique in this piece. When Mirzaei looks at this piece, she sees a work full of so much depth—one that challenges viewers to examine all angles of themselves and one that celebrates the innate individuality of each person.
