Oil on Woodblocks and Backed by Masonite

This piece is part of a series of artworks that the artist creates to celebrate and pursue states of unstructured randomness with a sense of intention, peace and joy. The physical process is a practice of deconstructing an artwork that is already beautiful in color and form and intuitively reconstructing it into something seemingly more complicated and chaotic but still exudes its original calming beauty.

Bio/Statement

Frannie Hemmelgarn is a multidisciplinary artist whose creative output includes oil painting on canvas and wood, cyanotype print making and temporary and spontaneous installations in nature. Her work, which trends towards abstract, is inspired by the vibrant colors and intricate patterns found in nature and the role that energy and rhythm play in our experiences as humans.

The artists’ creative process is intentionally intuitive, the making of art is a tool that she uses to find balance, learn lessons about self and practice emotional concepts in the safe and uniquely unstructured land of creativity. This commitment to internal processing of external experiences results in expressive works that invite the viewer to their own internal process.
