hosted in SEaport Village, downtown San Diego, CA
We are excited to announce the inaugural Art Scene West Film Festival, a showcase of independent short films (under 25 minutes) from around the country. We are partnering with local San Diego businesses that focus on art and creativity to make this event possible. Some of those partners include ArtReach, Rock & Roll San Diego, and Vanguard Culture. Part of the proceeds will be donated to ArtReach to contribute to their mission of providing art education to San Diego County with the guiding principles of cultivating artistic community and equitable access to art for all.
Taking place on April 25th and 26th, this festival promises to be a unique outdoor cinematic experience, blending art, culture, and community in the heart of San Diego at the beautiful Seaport Village. Screening starts at 7:30pm, with music and activities preceding it from 6:00pm - 7:00pm.
The Seaport Village is known for its charming cobblestone walkways, vibrant shops, and incredible dining options. The festival will take place in the Lighthouse District and festival goers will experience picturesque views of the harbor and city skyline. The clear skies, open-air and warm San Diego weather is perfect for this outdoor event.
Whether you're a local resident or visiting from out of town, this Film Festival offers a unique opportunity to experience the best of San Diego's waterfront while celebrating art, music, community, culture, and independent films.
The festival kicks off on Friday, April 25th, with live entertainment and activities happening before our screening begins. From 7:30 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., our featured short-films (maximum 25 minutes) will be shown back-to-back, with a short intermission midway.
On Saturday, April 26th, we will again entertain with live music and activities prior to the screening beginning at 7:30 p.m., where the remaining short-films from our featured 10 will be shown. At the end of the evening, the festival staff will announce the winners for the feature films, including 1st, 2nd, 3rd place, and a runner-up.
While both days of screenings will be the highlight of the weekend, the Film Festival is only a part of the full Seaport Village experience. Visitors can also enjoy the usual weekend festivities, including live music, in-gallery painting parties, and the many shops and restaurants that make Seaport Village a local favorite. Art lovers will have the opportunity to attend the annual Little Italy Art Walk, one of the largest art gatherings in the city. Additionally, sports fans will have the chance to catch the San Diego Padres playing the Tampa Bay Rays at Petco Park, with San Diego FC facing off against Real Salt Lake FC at Snapdragon Stadium.
