Christina Williams
Daly City, California USA
Christina Goh Williams delights in being a professional fine artist, and also feels fortunate to have the best job in the world, teaching art for nearly 25 years. Her work is based on the natural environment, using mainly soft pastels to capture beauty where she sees it. Her earliest joyful painting memory was at the easel in preschool. Growing up surrounded by museums, galleries, and public art, it is how her interest in art grew strong. In college, she decided to make it a lifelong endeavor, first by obtaining a Bachelors of Fine Art degree and then a Masters of Fine Art. Her art has been shown in galleries, online exhibits, in print, found in shops, and collected through commissions and individual sales. Residing in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and daughter, she enjoys hiking with her family when not making art.
“I draw inspiration from the natural world, translating it into art using soft pastels, watercolors, and occasionally acrylics. The tactile sensation I feel while looking guides my choice of medium. My process goes beyond merely observing objects or landscapes; it involves capturing the dance of colors, the lyricism of line, and the interplay of shapes in value and space. Whether in the mundane or extraordinary, I aim to encapsulate the fleeting beauty I perceive. My preference for representational art is driven by a desire to make my work accessible and easily understood. This work explores impermanence through a cloud's shape-shifting journey across the sky, the seasonal decay transforming greenery, and the transient beauty of colors during a sunset.”
