Art Scene West Film Festival!
ABOUT:
Art Scene West is calling film makers nation-wide to submit for their chance to be part of this first-ever film festival hosted in downtown San Diego’s Seaport Village. For 2 nights we will be screening the finalists of each category. The screenings will be held publicly outside and projected onto a screen in the beautiful courtyard outside our of art gallery.
CATEGORIES:
Short Films (Maximum 5 minutes long):
The theme is “Where I Live”. In a short film, show us as much as you can about the place you call home. This open call can be in whichever style you choose, whether it is a documentary, narrative, interviews, 1st-person, comedy, drama, montage… whatever you choose. The accepted films will be projected on a screen in traditional horizontal (landscape) orientation, so film-makers should keep this in mind. Selected films will also play on our in-gallery television throughout our business hours. We will judge and screen the finalists on the basis of overall quality, intrigue, and relevance.
Feature Films (Maximum 20 minutes):
The theme is “Positive Impact: How does a little good go a long way?” Under this theme, we are accepting all genres of film, but encourage narrative films that challenge the creative storytelling process. The top 4 will be screened in no particular order on Saturday, April 26th. At the end, the 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and runner-up placements will also be announced. They will be reviewed by our staff and judged on the basis of 1.) overall plot 2.) acting and character development 3.) directing and 4.) cinematography. We reserve the right to screen the best overall quality films without consideration to genres.
