Call for Photographic Fine Art
ABOUT THE CALL
Art Scene West is accepting fine art photography of every genre inside our San Diego Art Gallery for an eclectic exhibition showcasing visual art captured by a camera. From this call opportunity, up to 20 artists will be selected to have their unique photographs adorn the walls of our downtown gallery December 14 - January 31st. Our gallery is located in Seaport Village of downtown San Diego, a beautiful attraction where tourists, convention goers, and locals gather to enjoy the seaside businesses, luxury restaurants, and beautiful Southern California weather. Selected artists will also enjoy a presence on the Art Scene West website, featuring their artist bio, personal statement, artist photo, and artwork for sale. They will benefit from our social media, email, and local promotional campaigns for the duration of the exhibition. An archive of the show will also be permanently available on the Art Scene West website.
Details
Art Scene West will remit 70% of the sales commission to the photographer and withhold 30% for gallery expenses.
All photographs accepted into the exhibition must not exceed 24” on the longest side, including the frame.
The photographer may request the gallery to print or pick up the photo from a printing station for an additional fee.
The photograph can be printed on any medium.

FEES
There is a $25 submission fee to review the artist's work and biography. For artists who are selected for the exhibition, the participation fee is $75. This helps cover the costs of handling and curating the artwork inside the gallery and uploading the artists’ content onto our website. Artists are responsible for shipping and return-shipping fees.
TIMELINE
Submission deadline: November 22nd, 2024
Artists will be notified of their selection by November 25th.
Last Day for Artists to pay participation fee: November 30th.
Online Exhibition goes live on December 14th.
Artwork delivery deadline: December 12th.
Opening Reception at the gallery: December 14th, 2024.
Unsold artwork will be shipped back to artists beginning on February 3rd.

Artwork Image Requirements
All photograph prints sent to the gallery must not exceed 24” on the longest side. Images of artwork submitted for consideration will be the same images uploaded to our gallery website. Artists are encouraged to send images that will best represent the quality of their artwork to both the Art Scene West curating team and art collectors.

Only clear and accurate images of artwork will be considered.
Photograph print must be no longer than 24” on the longest side, including the frame.

Eligibility Criteria
Acceptable artworks include all images originally taken by a photograph and printed on high-quality paper for the purpose of artistic display. All images must be an original of the participating artist and must be available for sale. Filters, enhancements, manipulations, distortions, and all other kinds of altering are acceptable, as long as the image retains its photographic nature in the final appearance. RULES AND TERMS TO APPLY
Each artist submitting an artwork to be considered is in compliance with and agrees to all of the following terms of this Agreement:
The image submitted by the artist is an original creation of the submitting artist.
An artist’s submission shall consist of up to four (4) high-resolution (at least 300 dpi) digital photographs. Filters, enhancements, manipulations, distortions, and all other kinds of altering are acceptable.
Artist is at least 18 years of age and has the authority, without breaching any other agreement made by the artist, to make the submission.
All artwork submitted and selected shall be offered for sale throughout the exhibition, both at our gallery at 803 W Harbor drive, San Diego CA 92101, and at www.artscenewest.com.
Artist grants Art Scene West a 30% sales commission on the artist’s artwork(s) selected for entry in the show and sold at any time during the show.
Artist agrees that the digital photographs submitted by the artist of the artwork(s) that are selected into the exhibition will be used/published by Art Scene West for purposes of gallery promotion and offering such artworks for sale at Art Scene West’s online and physical gallery.
If any of the artist's artwork(s) are selected, the artist agrees that Art Scene West may publicize the digital photos of such artwork(s) and the artist’s name and bio online, on social media, at its website, and in print media promotions during the exhibition and beyond.
All fees paid by artist(s) are non-refundable.
Artist(s) retains all copyright ownership of their artwork.
Unless there is a sale of the artwork by Art Scene West during the exhibition, artists shall remain the sole owner of their artwork(s).
If artist’s artwork(s) are selected for entry, the artist will be required to accept the terms of a separate agreement specifying Exhibition Terms, details for delivery of the artwork, and make payment of the participation fee ($75) through a secure portal at www.artscenewest.com.
Upon being notified of the selection of the artist's artwork, the artist shall have until November 30th to pay the participation fee online and verify their acceptance of the Exhibition Terms or be ineligible.
Communications by the artist regarding the exhibition shall be made via email addressed to: info@artscenewest.com.
Artwork that is not equipped with an appropriate hanging mechanism and/or ready for display will incur a minimum 100$ fee to remain eligible for the exhibition.
The artist agrees to pay shipping and handling fees associated with delivery of their artwork, including return shipping back to their residence if the work remains unsold.
Artist agrees to indemnify, defend and hold harmless Art Scene West Gallery from any claim or demand, including attorney’s fees, made by any third party due to or arising out of your breach of these Terms or your violation of any law or the rights of a third party.
