Houston Based artist, originally from New Jersey but moved to Houston as a child. By splitting her time between the Eastern coast and the South she became fascinated with the different between the two landscape. Nature became a driving force in her work. She graduated from the University of North Texas in 2016 with a BFA in Watercolor and Painting/ Drawing. During this time her works mainly focused on traditional mediums. In 2019 Maggie received her MFA from Pennsylvanian Academy of the Fine Arts. While she was there she expanded her practice to more than just painting and drawing while moving into more abstraction. By bringing in fabrics and other types of paper she able to express more mark making, texture and, layers than before. Margaret has show works Cain Gallery, Art League of Rhode Island, d’Art center, as well as other though out Texas and the Eastern coast. Currently she splits her time between making art and teaching.

Using mixed media techniques, I can capture various aspects of my practice, from drawing to sewing, to represent the surrounding landscape and memories. Each mark holds a moment of inspiration or importance. Through repetition, I create spaces for reflection and meditation on where I have been and where I am now. I want a feel of escape that comes from taking the time to be one with nature and to really appreciate the beauty around all of us. Whether it's the inscriptions on the ground, the patterns of the hills, or the textures that pop up in the flat prairies, these are moments capture me and I want to bring that to the viewer. We get so caught up in what's happening around us that we don't take the time to look at the small endeavors right before our eyes. Once I opened my eyes and saw the tranquility and peacefulness that's happening in these small moments, I found peace and strength within myself in this big world.
