Bio:
Jackson Kennefick (25) is a self taught painter and digital artist originally born and raised in Chicago until age 14. He moved to Southern California in high school and has lived in various places there ever since. Painting gives him a platform to channel his creativity and energy through words, stories, thoughts, colors, and ideas. He is a big believer in the power of art, its ability to transcend and open up our hearts, communicate expressions of raw emotions, bring us together, offer new perspectives, and inspire positive change.
Statement:
I express in my paintings the feelings, thoughts, and sensations that I struggle to express in words. Invoking the creative process as a vehicle into the present moment so that I can better understand what is currently arising and unfolding within me. I work mostly with acrylics, oil paint and sticks, aerosol and digital softwares such and procreate and adobe. Abstract art has always spoken to me for its ability to completely shift our perspective and ways of looking at the world. We can take something and put in a completely different context and create a whole new meaning out of it. Within my work you can see a lot of words or phrases that may be thought provoking or uplifting. I typically use very expressive strokes, vibrant colors, and different textures. All my life I have questioned authority, been rebellious and been eccentric; this shows through in my art. My hope is to create an experience that leaves the viewer feeling inspired and empowered. I want to spread awareness around the ideas and themes of compassion, honesty, oneness and love. Build bridges where there were once separation, trail blaze new paths towards liberation, and create spaces that breed unity.
