Elizabeth's identity remains rooted in her background as a nurse and she appreciates how photography allows her to share the quiet beauty and healing power of natural spaces through the lens. Elizabeth recently participated in a mentorship program through National Park Photography Expeditions where she has developed her post-production and thematic skills. She looks forward to further developing her portfolio and creating art that reflects the deep connection between humanity and the natural world.
Personal Statement:
The natural world is where I find respite from my emotions. I see beauty in the parallels of the natural world and the human experience, which in turn challenges me to appreciate the beauty in myself and others as we traverse through life.
I treasure trees and forests. I often find myself looking at a tree and wondering about the life that existed before I arrived. Conversations come to an abrupt halt when I spy a tree growing in an unlikely way or see an especially strong oak standing while others around it have fallen. I find beauty in their bending and bowing, their stretching to reach for the sun, and most powerfully, in how they have chosen to push themselves to survive. I see trees as symbols of hope and resilience. Through observing the shape of a tree and its surroundings, I find inspiration to persevere and celebrate the beauty that emerges as I respond to challenges.
